Report on Marie Curie (Grade 3, Chemistry)

                                                           Report on Marie Curie*

Marie Curie was born on November 7, 1867, in Warsaw (modern-day Poland). (From https://www.biography.com/scientists/marie-curie last visited on February 16, 2023.) Her major scientific contribution was opening the gate to the nuclear age. She discovered that radium was dangerous, and still is today, but it also has good uses like electricity.

Madame Curie and her husband, who was a doctor, spent years trying to find radium. However, it made them very ill, and to this day, her tomb releases radiation.

It is important to learn about Madame Curie because people who use radium need to know its good and bad uses.

*Most research came from the book Marie Curie’s Search for Radium by Beverley Birch and Christian Birmingham.
